Ideas for Small Bathrooms and Why They Work

The San Francisco home owners we work with often have limited space in their bathrooms and want to maximize for storage and function as much as possible. Often that means fitting a separate tub inside an already small footprint and finding creative storage solutions. Below are some of our favorite ideas for small bathroom design & build.

Skylight In The Shower

We love this look and have completed many bathroom remodels with a skylight in the shower. The natural light and sky view create a larger feel. (PC: Bach Architecture)

Storage In Unused Space

Bathrooms often end up with little bits of unused space that make good spots for a concealed cabinet or open shelf storage as shown here. (PC: Amber Interiors)

A Narrow Sink Vanity

This can be a great solution when space is limited. A custom vanity can be made to fit two sinks and still have storage below. This one uses simple materials in similar tones to keep things feeling serene in a small space. (PC: Mark Heldens)

Tub in the Shower

We love a tub in the shower and recently completed a project with the same idea (our Wool Street remodel). This is a fantastic way to save space while keeping all the waterproofing in one area. (PC: Project M Plus)

Small Freestanding Tub

In plan view, this kind of layout often feels small and squished, but if the materials are chosen carefully, it can be a very successful way to fit more in a small space. There is still a feeling a spaciousness in this image because of the negative space around the tub and the contrasting shower materials. (PC: Amber Interiors)
