Potrero Pink

Full Home Remodel + Addition | Potrero Hill, San Francisco

This project involved a full home remodel and top-floor addition to a single-family Victorian home in San Francisco.

On the main level, we reworked the layout to create more functional and connected public spaces, relocating the kitchen, living, and dining areas to the rear of the home to open directly to the yard.

The front of the home includes more flexible, private spaces, with an office and guest room connected by existing parlor doors. A new staircase to the addition is accessed from the entry, with a powder room and built-in storage carefully integrated beneath it to make use of what would otherwise be unused space.

The top-floor addition includes a children’s bedroom and hall bath, a primary suite, and a shared landing with a library and workspace.

To bring more light into the home, we added skylights and large windows at the upper level, replaced existing windows throughout, and introduced a large sliding door and transom at the rear.

The project also required extensive structural work due to the steep site, along with a long and complex permitting process with the City of San Francisco.

The result is a cohesive and expanded home that balances original architectural character with a more functional layout, improved natural light, and warm, mid-century modern influences expressed through clean lines, natural materials, and spaces designed to support daily life.
